This drug acts by inhibiting the synthesis of bacteria cell walls. It inhibits cross -linkage between the linear peptidoglycan polymer chains that make up a major component of the cell walls of both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It is an antibiotic.

This drug acts by inhibiting the synthesis of bacteria cell walls. It inhibits cross -linkage between the linear peptidoglycan polymer chains that make up a major component of the cell walls of both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
INDICATION AND USAGE
Amoxicillin is one of a group of antibiotic medicines called Penicillin. Amoxicillin works by interfering with the bacteria that cause the infection. Amoxicillin can treat wide range of infection including:
- Bronchitis or pneumonia(Chest)
- Tonsillitis(Tonsil)
- Otitis media(Ears)
- Sinusitis(Sinuses)
- Kidneys
- Endocarditis(Heart)
- Septicaemia (Blood)
- Bladder or Urethra
- Puerperal Sepsis and Septic absorption(Infection associated with pregnancy and childbirth)
- Peritonitis (Abdomen)
- Abscesses(Skin, bones, teeth and gums)
- Gonorrhoea(Sexually transmitted disease)
- Typhoid and parathyroid (Salmonella infection)
WARNING
Amoxicillin passes through breast milk. Therefore if you are breast feeding or plan to start, be sure to talk with your healthcare provider about using Amoxicillin.
PRECAUTIONS
Amoxicillin should be used with caution in patients with medical history especially kidney diseases, stomach or intestinal problems, blood disorders or drug allergies especially allergies to penicillin or cephalosporin. Do not use Amoxicillin repeatedly or for prolonged periods because use of this product for prolonged periods may result in secondary infections(oral bladder or vaginal yeast infection)
Use with extreme caution during pregnancy or lactation. Only take Amoxicillin as prescribed by a doctor. Skipping doses of Amoxicillin even when you feel better may result in bacteria resistance to Amoxicillin.
DOSAGE:
In Adults, 750 to 1750mg/day in divided doses every 8-12 hours.
In Pediatric Patients more than 3 years of age, 20-45mg/day in divided doses.
Treatment of Gonorrhoea is 3 grams as a single oral dose.
The Upper dose for neonates and infants less than 3 months is 30mg/day in divided doses every 12 hours.
Reduce the dose in patients with severe renal impairment.
